Marketing assistant and community manager
Behind every brand active on social platforms, someone writes, posts, replies and measures. The community manager holds that voice day to day: creating content, animating the community and reporting what the audience actually does.
A community manager's week
The week is built around an editorial calendar prepared in advance: topics, formats, dates, objectives. Production fills the mornings — writing a short text that stands up, editing a vertical video, adapting a visual to the right formats. Animation fills the rest: replying to comments, handling a public complaint calmly, amplifying what the community produces. Friday belongs to measurement: reach, engagement, clicks, and above all what those figures dictate for the following week.
- Build an editorial calendar aligned to a commercial objective
- Produce text, visuals and short video in each platform's formats
- Animate a community and handle a public complaint
- Set up a paid campaign and report on its results
Organisations that open this role
Brands and retail chains
Retail, telecoms, banking, food service: any chain speaking directly to its customers now runs an in-house editorial team.
Communication agencies
Several accounts run in parallel, formats to reinvent every month: the most formative ground for someone starting out.
Startups and online retail
The role stretches wider there: content, advertising, customer service and sales follow-up form a single workflow.
The format, stated plainly
The stated duration matches the programme followed at its intended pace, from the first block to the final defence. Taught hours are those of instructor-led sessions; credits place the programme on the catalogue's common scale. The three hold together and read at a glance, which is exactly how they are used.

The skills map
This map shows where training time goes. A wide block concentrates practice, a short one locks down a precise point; both are needed, and the framework states which weighs what. It is the information a department head asks for when considering sending a team member on a programme.
| Competency block | What it covers | Taught hours |
|---|---|---|
| Editorial line and calendar | Audience, tone, themes, planning, brand consistency | 90 h |
| Content production | Copywriting, visuals, short formats, creative tools | 120 h |
| Community management and moderation | Replies, moderation, crisis situations, partnerships | 90 h |
| Advertising and measurement | Simple campaigns, budget, targeting, analytics, monthly reporting | 80 h |
| Professional conduct and employability | Portfolio, client relations, job search | 20 h |
Three ways into digital marketing
Every row in this table comes from the official catalogue: title, duration, credits, taught hours and yearly or one-off fees. Nothing is rounded and nothing is hand-entered. This is the table you take to an employer to request funding, or to an adviser to weigh your options.
| Programme | Duration | Credits | Taught hours | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Community Management · Short course | 2 months | 4 | 40 h | 1 000 000 GNF in total |
| Digital Marketing Essentials · Short course | 2 months | 4 | 40 h | 1 100 000 GNF in total |
| Digital Marketing · Bachelor's degree | 2 years | 120 | 1200 h | 4 600 000 GNF per year |
What you want to know before choosing
Do I need to draw or film?
The role calls for producing fast and cleanly, not for creating artwork. The framework installs layout tools, the formats of each platform and the rules of mobile legibility. To go further on imagery, the graphic designer qualification takes over.
How is the work measured?
By public, verifiable indicators: reach, engagement rate, outbound clicks, cost per acquisition on paid campaigns. The measurement block teaches you to read them together rather than in isolation, and to draw an editorial decision from them.
Can this be done freelance?
Many start that way, with two or three regular clients. The entrepreneurship programme covers the side most often missing: pricing, service contracts, invoicing and cash management. The two combine very well.
