Legal assistant in practice and in business
Law is practised through documents, deadlines and forms. The legal assistant builds files, tracks deadlines, prepares routine deeds and manages contact with registries and administrations. A precision job, at the heart of business.
The material of legal work
A file is opened, fed and kept: numbered documents, an established chronology, filed correspondence. The assistant drafts routine deeds from mastered templates, gathers the supporting papers for a company formality, files it and follows up with the registry. The deadline calendar demands constant attention, because a missed deadline is rarely recovered. On top comes documentary research: finding the applicable text and its version in force.
- Build a complete file and maintain its chronology
- Draft a routine deed from a template and have it approved
- Run a company formality and follow its filing with the registry
- Keep a deadline calendar and raise alerts in advance
Two worlds, one occupation
The practice
Lawyers, notaries, legal advisers: the pace follows hearings and deeds, and the variety of files trains you fast.
The in-house legal department
Banks, mining groups, telecoms: contracts, leases, tenders and compliance form a steady flow to organise.
Public sector and programmes
Procurement, agreements, grants: formal requirements are high there and the role is much in demand.
The figures to keep in mind before deciding
A candidate compares four things first: duration, taught hours, credits and target level. Here they are, in the order that matters. Level sets the responsibility the qualification recognises; hours state the real work asked of you; credits make comparison possible with any other programme, here or elsewhere in the region.

Led by an instructor.
1 credit = 25 h of work, 10 of them taught.

The validated skills, one by one
Each block matches a capability the role demands and the assessment verifies. The breakdown comes from the filed framework: it describes an occupation as it is practised, not a subject as it is taught. A block once obtained stays obtained, which makes the path resumable if working life calls for a pause.

The programme that opens business law careers
Here are the paths open to this occupation, with their real cost and duration. A long programme installs the full base; a certificate targets a precise function and can be taken while keeping your job. Both strategies work, and the table gives what you need to choose between them.
| Programme | Duration | Credits | Taught hours | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Business Law and OHADA Compliance · Bachelor's degree | 3 years | 180 | 1800 h | 5 200 000 GNF per year |
Three questions, three precise answers
Do I need a law background for this role?
The qualification is designed for entry into the occupation: it installs the vocabulary, the sources of applicable law and the routine procedures. People coming from secretarial or administrative work do particularly well, because documentary rigour is already familiar to them.
How central is OHADA law?
It is central. The uniform acts govern commercial companies, securities, debt recovery and insolvency across seventeen states. A skill acquired in Conakry applies within the same framework in Dakar, Abidjan or Bamako.
