Transport and warehouse operations agent

Chartering, planning a round, tracking a truck, receiving a container, shipping on time: the operations agent keeps goods moving. A job of constant coordination, between the dock, the road and the customer.

The operations day

It starts early, with the day's plan: loads to cover, vehicles available, drivers assigned, delivery constraints. The dock then sets the pace — receiving, checks, loading, documents to be drawn up without error, because a wrong document strands a truck. Tracking fills the whole day: calling, replanning, warning a customer before they call. The evening brings the count: what left, what arrived, what remains for tomorrow.

  • Plan a delivery round and assign vehicles and drivers
  • Run a dock: receiving, checks, loading, dispatch
  • Draw up and verify transport and delivery documents
  • Track a shipment and handle a disruption with the customer

Players in the logistics chain

  • Road hauliers and parcel companies
  • Freight forwarders and port transit agents
  • Distribution warehouses and consolidation platforms
  • Mining and industrial sites shipping their output
  • Retail chains supplying their outlets

The four figures that decide

How long, how many hours in the room or online, how many credits, for what level of responsibility: those four answers are enough to know whether the programme fits your calendar and your plan. They sit here, at the top of the page, rather than at the end of a call with an adviser.

How the framework is built

A professional qualification reads through its blocks: they state what the holder can run alone, and under what conditions. The hours attached to each block show where the framework places the effort. That distribution is a design decision, it is published as such, and it compares block by block with any other programme.

Entering the transport professions

The path to this occupation is chosen on facts: how long, how many hours with an instructor, how many recognised credits and what amount in Guinean francs. The table gathers them for every open option, in the order a candidate reviews them before filing an application.

What comes up in guidance interviews

Does the port of Conakry offer openings?

It is the main entry point of Guinean trade, and it concentrates forwarders, brokers, bonded warehouses and hauliers. The customs declarant and forwarding agent qualification, at level 5, is the natural specialisation for anyone targeting that ground.

Which tools are used daily?

An operations system where the company has one, and the spreadsheet everywhere else: load plans, return tracking, cost per kilometre. The short advanced spreadsheet course markedly speeds up taking up the role.
