Requesting a review of an assessment

Review by a person is a right on any assessment, with no justification required. The request follows a published route, with stated turnarounds and a written answer. Here is how to phrase it so it is useful.

A right, without conditions

On any assessment, review by a person is a right and requires no justification. That principle is published in our governance, alongside the turnarounds that come with it. It completes the named feedback: you know what was missing, and you have a route to discuss it with a person who answers for it.

  • A review as of right on any assessment
  • No reason required to obtain it
  • An acknowledgement within two working days, with a name
  • A written, reasoned answer within ten working days

The published route of a complaint

These steps are those the institution publishes in its governance, for any complaint. They apply to the review of an assessment as to any other request.

  1. 01

    You write

By email or from your space, in one sentence if that is enough. The form is short and stating a reason is left to you.

  2. 02

    We acknowledge

Within two working days, with the name of the person who takes the file through to closure.

  3. 03

    Written, reasoned reply

Within ten working days. The reasoning is written whatever the outcome: that is what lets you take it further.

  4. 04

    Review by a person

On any assessment, human review is a right. It is requested in one line, with no justification needed.

Phrasing a useful request

  1. 01

    Take the feedback received

It names what was missing. Quote the precise point your request concerns rather than the overall mark.

  2. 02

    Point to your output

Indicate the passage or element that, in your view, meets the criterion. A precise reference is handled fast.

  3. 03

    Write with your reference

The module, the assessment date, your identifier. Those three open the file with no preliminary exchange.

  4. 04

    Await the named acknowledgement

It arrives within two working days and carries the name of the person handling your request.

  5. 05

    Read the reasoned answer

Within ten working days, in writing. It explains the position taken point by point, and it stands as a record.

Questions about review

Must I justify my request?

Review is a right with no justification needed. A precise request is still faster to process: quoting the criterion and the passage concerned lets the substance be addressed from the first exchange.

Who carries out the review?

A person, named in the acknowledgement. Settling a certifying mark is one of the acts reserved to people, published in our governance: review follows the same rule.

Does the request affect the rest of the programme?

Your progress continues during processing: content stays open and later modules follow on normally. The reasoned answer arrives within ten working days, regardless of where you are.
