Pausing then resuming your studies

A pause is requested with a reason and keeps everything: progress, validated results, completed modules. Resumption happens at the next session of the module concerned. Here is the procedure, in both directions.

What stays valid during a pause

A pause preserves everything you have acquired: progress, validated results, completed modules. You resume where you stopped, without redoing what you passed. Financially, instalments falling after your departure stop being due and amounts for the period not attended are not payable.

  • Your progress, as it stood at the moment of the pause
  • Your validated results and acquired credits
  • Marking feedback received, available on resumption
  • Your file reference and your full history

Requesting a pause

  1. 01

    Write the reasoned request

The reason, the desired date, the intended duration. Three lines are enough, with your file reference.

  2. 02

    Receive the named acknowledgement

Within two working days, with the name of the person handling the request, as for any written request.

  3. 03

    Have your progress statement issued

Validated modules, acquired credits, project milestone reached. It is the starting point of your resumption.

  4. 04

    Adjust the schedule

Later instalments stop being due. A revised, dated schedule is issued to you.

Resuming after a break

  1. 01

    Announce your return

In writing, with your reference. Resumption is set at the next session of the module where you stopped.

  2. 02

    Reread your progress statement

It says exactly what is acquired. So you know, before reopening any content, where to pick up.

  3. 03

    Reinstall the weekly frame

Place, slots, reminders — as in the first month. The frame rebuilds faster than it improvises.

  4. 04

    Restart with a short output

A modest submission within the first two weeks restarts the marking cycle, and that is what gets you going.

  5. 05

    Adjust the pace if needed

A more spread-out pace can be requested on resumption. A pace that is kept beats a pace that is intended.

Questions about pausing

Must I justify a pause?

The request is reasoned, meaning it states the reason and the intended duration. It receives an acknowledgement within two working days and a written answer: the route is that of any request addressed to the institution.

How long does progress stay valid?

Your validated results remain valid and you resume where you stopped. Resumption is set at the next session of the module concerned: write with your reference to learn its exact date.

Can I pause then switch programme on return?

Yes, the two combine. Your progress statement then serves as the basis for the statement of credits carried into the new programme, and the reorientation interview covers the new project.
