Framing, planning and steering a project

A project stands on three pillars: a written scope its stakeholders recognise, a plan whose workload is estimated, and steering that surfaces variances early enough to act. This skill installs all three.

Scoping decides everything else

Most projects that drift drifted on day one, in an implicit scope each stakeholder understood in their own way. Writing that scope — objective, boundaries, acceptance criteria, decision-maker — costs a few hours and saves months. The rest follows: a plan whose workload is estimated with the people who will do the work, steering by verifiable milestones, and a closure that delivers the review. The programme teaches these acts in both the short course and the full curriculum.

What else is worth knowing

Do I need previous project experience?

The six-month certificate is aimed at people taking on their first coordination responsibilities. The project coordinator qualification is prepared over 700 taught hours.

Does the method apply outside computing?

It applies to construction sites, industrial rollouts and organisational projects. The site manager qualification draws on it across 800 taught hours.

Is budget control covered?

Yes, along with procurement and supplier management: 120 taught hours are devoted to it in the management and project programme.
