Recruiting with method and getting onboarding right

A precise job description, a shared interview grid, criteria written before the applications arrive: structured recruitment improves the quality of choices and equal treatment. Onboarding then turns a choice into a success.

Deciding before you meet

Structured recruitment starts with a decision taken calmly: which competencies are essential, how each will be assessed, and at what threshold. Writing those criteria before meeting candidates changes the nature of the interview — you compare observations rather than impressions, and the choice can be justified to the team as well as to the candidate. The programme extends the method into onboarding, because a good hire is confirmed in the first three months.

  • Write a job description and a framework of expected competencies
  • Build an interview grid and apply it to every candidate
  • Run a structured interview and document the decision
  • Design an induction path covering the first three months
