Careers
IT support and systems technician
This is the role almost every IT career starts from. The support technician installs, fixes, administers accounts and runs backups — and learns the company faster than anyone, because sooner or later everyone calls them.
The role seen from inside
The ticket flow shapes the day: a machine that will not boot, an access to create, a network printer that has vanished, a file to restore. The technician qualifies, prioritises, resolves or escalates — and documents, because an answer written once is reused a hundred times. In the background run the tasks that protect the company: checking backups, applying updates, reviewing accounts, preparing machines for new joiners.
- Install, configure and secure a complete workstation
- Create, amend and close accounts and access rights
- Verify a backup and carry out a file restore
- Qualify a request, track it and write the matching procedure
Who hires this profile
In-house IT departments
Banks, mining companies, retail groups: as soon as an organisation passes a few dozen machines, it opens this role.
Managed service providers
Several clients, several environments, fast skill growth: this is the setting that trains a young technician quickest.
Public bodies and programmes
Ministries, agencies, development programmes: fleets to equip, users to support, procedures to write and keep.
What the institute puts in writing
A duration, taught hours, credits and a level of responsibility: these are the four commitments the institute makes on this programme, and they are public. You will find them identical on the qualification page, in the official catalogue and on the certificate issued at the end. One figure, three surfaces, no divergence.

Skilled employee and operative
Led by an instructor.
1 credit = 25 h of work, 10 of them taught.
Framework of the « IT Support and Systems Technician » qualification, code TP06.
The blocks that make up the framework
The framework is split into self-contained blocks, each with its own taught hours. That split serves three purposes: organising the training, organising the assessment, and letting an already experienced professional have what they already command recognised. The same structure is what makes prior-learning validation possible.

Programmes leading to IT support
This table sets side by side what genuinely prepares for this role. Credits and taught hours measure the gap between two options; fees relate that gap to a budget. Those are the three questions a candidate asks, and the three answers sit on a single row.
| Programme | Duration | Credits | Taught hours | Fees |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Networks and Cloud · Bachelor's degree | 2 years | 120 | 1200 h | 5 600 000 GNF per year |
| Computer Science programme — Bac+3 level · Bachelor's degree | 3 years | 180 | 1800 h | 5 400 000 GNF per year |
The points people ask us about
Does this lead to systems administration?
It is its direct continuation. The systems and network administrator qualification, at level 5, adds virtualisation, directory services, monitoring and the hardening of a full infrastructure. Two years of support work are the best possible preparation for that step.
Do I need to program?
The role is performed without development work. Writing automation scripts quickly proves to be an accelerator, and the computing programme covers it; it comes on top of the base rather than being a precondition.
Can the role be done remotely?
Partly. Remote control covers a large share of requests, and the programme includes it; installation, hardware replacement and hands-on user support happen on site. Most roles combine both modes within the same week.
