Network and telecommunications technician

Fibre, copper, radio links, access points: the network technician installs and maintains the links that carry everything else. A job where you climb, you measure, and you restore a service hundreds of people are waiting for.

Between the field and the equipment room

Part of the work happens outdoors: pulling cable, splicing fibre, mounting antennas, surveying routes. The rest happens in the equipment room, in front of a rack: clean patching, labelling, configuring a switch, checking links. Between the two comes measurement, which settles arguments — reflectometry, link budget, throughput tests. Service restoration is judged by the minute, and that is where the method learned in training makes the difference.

How the framework is built
