Statistics applied to decision-making
Statistics tell you what a figure allows you to conclude, and under what conditions. Distribution, dispersion, correlation, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals: these turn an intuition into an argument and a table into a defensible decision.
What a figure entitles you to conclude
Two series rising together prove nothing on their own; an average over twelve observations hides as much as it shows; a two-point gap can be sampling noise. Knowing this changes how you lead: you ask for the interval before signing off a budget, you separate signal from noise before stopping a campaign. The programme teaches that reasoning on real datasets and pairs it with a block devoted to spotting misleading analysis.
- Describe a population through its measures of location and spread
- Run a hypothesis test and state its conclusion correctly
- Tell a correlation from a causal link, and say so in a meeting
- Spot a sampling bias or a misleading chart
Which teaching blocks carry it
A teaching block commits the institute to a precise number of hours. These are the figures a credit-recognition office recalculates first.
| Teaching block | Programme | Taught hours | Year |
|---|---|---|---|
| Advanced applied statistics | Data Science programme — Bac+5 level | 240 h | Year 1 |
| Mathematics for AI | Artificial Intelligence programme — Bac+5 level | 220 h | Year 1 |
| Descriptive analysis and indicators | Certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Business Decisions | 40 h | Year 1 |
| Spotting a misleading analysis | Certificate in Artificial Intelligence for Business Decisions | 30 h | Year 1 |
What the catalogue devotes to it
You state a quantified conclusion together with its degree of certainty, and defend it before a leadership team that challenges it. Figures computed from the blocks listed above, on every build of the site.
