Personal protective equipment: the last barrier
Personal protective equipment protects the operator where risk remains after collective measures. It is chosen on the basis of analysis, checked, and accompanied by training in its use. It comes after collective measures, which address the risk at source.
Protection closest to the operator
Personal protective equipment is worn by the operator to shield them from an identified risk: helmet, hearing protection, gloves matched to the material, harness, respiratory device. The management chain, in four steps
The Health, Safety and Environment programme has candidates build the full matrix workstation by workstation: risk identified, equipment chosen, check frequency. The Industrial Maintenance and Energy programme covers it in situation: working on a locked-out installation with the equipment matched to each phase.
