Governing an organisation's data

Who owns a piece of data, who may read it, how long it is kept and where it is hosted: governance answers those four questions with written, applicable and auditable rules. It underpins any serious use of artificial intelligence.

Written rules, therefore applicable

An organisation knows how to govern its data the day it can answer, in one minute, the question: who is accountable for this data? Governance produces that answer — one owner per data domain, a sensitivity classification, a justified retention period, an owned hosting location. Those rules then make analysis and artificial intelligence projects possible, because they state upfront what may be done with what.

  • Build a data inventory and appoint an owner for each domain
  • Classify data by sensitivity and set the matching access rights
  • Define justified retention periods and see them applied
  • Decide on hosting in light of sovereignty and regulation

The volume behind the skill

You draft and secure adoption of an organisation's data governance policy, together with its control plan. These hours are taught: live sessions, workshops, output reviews and assessments.
