Resit: a second opportunity, organised in advance
The resit is the session set in the calendar to retake an assessment. It carries the same marking scheme, it is announced when the semester opens, and it is part of the normal course. A supervised catch-up slot is offered between the two sittings.

The resit is the session organised to retake an assessment. It appears in the calendar from the opening of the semester, applies the same published marking scheme and awards the same credits. Between the two sittings, the student has detailed feedback and a supervised catch-up slot with the instructor, focused on the criteria still to consolidate.

How a retake is prepared
On the Finance and Accounting programme, the retake covers entries and closing: two focused sessions are often enough to consolidate the move. On the Networks and Cloud Computing programme, it takes the form of a new environment to configure, against the same scheme as the first sitting.
