Seeing where you stand, week after week

A stage is cleared on assessed work, never on time spent in front of a screen. Tracking therefore shows what is cleared, what is under way and the concept to revisit — information you can act on in two minutes.

What “progress” means here

A stage is cleared on assessed work. It is the only definition that survives contact with reality: you can spend three hours on a screen clearing nothing, and twenty minutes clearing a stage. The shape below illustrates the principle and the order of the four stages; it depicts a typical path, not a measured cohort.

  1. 1Concept restated in your own words
  2. 2Guided exercise completed unaided
  3. 3New situation handled alone
  4. 4Work assessed by a marker
Progression by stages. A stage is cleared by assessed work, never by time spent on screen. The shape illustrates the principle; it represents no actual cohort.

Three indicators, and why these

The concept holds over time

A concept passed today and re-presented three weeks later without warning: that is how a secure skill is told apart from a memory.

It transfers

You reuse it in a situation never met before. It is the only test that separates understanding from memorisation.

The time counted is working time

What is measured is real activity on content and submissions. An open tab does not enter the count.

The numeric reference of your programme

Tracking shows your advance against a total known in advance. That total comes from the official catalogue and does not move mid-session: it lets you know, at any point, how much of the road is behind you.

The stalled-progress signal

The signal triggers on a halt in progress: several days with no stage cleared, or a concept retried three times in a row. It comes weeks before the point where people genuinely disengage, and that is what leaves time to act. You receive it, your tutor sees it, and a targeted restart is organised before the gap widens.

Questions about tracking

Does tracking count my connection time?

It counts actual work on content and submissions. This is deliberate: screen time measures neither effort nor learning, and counting it would lead to optimising a number instead of making progress.

Am I ranked against others?

Tracking is about your own path and the programme framework. The reference is the module threshold, identical for the whole cohort: that is what decides, and it is known before the work begins.

What does my employer see if my company funds it?

A funder receives attendance and certifying results, that is, what evidences the service delivered. Your tutor exchanges and drafts remain yours: that separation is what allows you to be freely wrong while learning.
