Semester: how the calendar is cut
A semester is half a teaching year, closed by its assessments. It gives a programme its rhythm: units that start together, are worked together and are validated together. Each period carries its share of credits, keeping progress readable at any moment.
Half a year, closed by its assessments
A semester gathers the course units of one period and closes with their assessments. A 3-year programme has six; a two-year programme, four. Each semester carries its share of credits, so you always know where you stand against the total and what remains to be validated.

The calendar of a long programme
On the Computer Science programme, the teaching year appears on every unit. Units marked with a range — the cross-cutting foundations, the project — span several semesters, because that is genuinely how they are worked. The cohort calendar sets the opening and closing dates of each period.

The semester's units open together, each with its syllabus, its hours and its session calendar.

Submissions are staggered, each marked and commented before the next: progress shows from one to the next.

The period closes with its assessments. The semester's credits are earned on validation and stay earned.

2 catalogue programmes put “Semester” to work: 300 credits and 3000 taught hours in total. The official rule holds throughout — one credit stands for 25 hours of work, 10 of them taught.
