Placing an IHETC document against another system
An equivalence office recalculates three things: hour volume, credits and level of responsibility. The catalogue's 30 programmes and 72 qualifications publish all three, on every page and on the public verification.
The three quantities an examiner recomputes
An equivalence file is handled on quantities, not on titles. The first is supervised hours, the only figure directly comparable between systems. The second is the credit count, converted at 25 hours of work of which 10 are supervised. The third is the level of responsibility, spelled out in words rather than a number. All three appear on every catalogue page and on the verification page.

How the catalogue breaks down

Equivalence questions
Does the institute itself grant equivalences?
The institution publishes the quantities and answers documented requests; the decision belongs to the authority or institution receiving the file. Our role is to make those quantities verifiable and immediately available, which is exactly what an examiner asks for first.
Do a professional qualification and a programme compare?
They share the credit unit and the same conversion rule, which makes their volumes directly comparable. They answer two distinct questions, however: the programme attests a disciplinary field, the qualification attests the exercise of a named function. A file gains from presenting both separately.
What should be provided to an employer outside the sub-region?
The certificate supplement, which states the nature of the document, the level, the volumes and the awarding authority in both languages, together with the verification reference. That is the format an HR department can process without knowing the origin system.
Do the published volumes commit the institution?
They are those of the filed catalogue and appear on every page: 7390 credits and 73900 supervised hours in total, spread programme by programme and qualification by qualification. An examiner recomputes them from the credits and arrives at the same figures.
